We finally got some time to get away and we decided to visit Joshua Tree National Park! There are 9 national parks in California and it is #8 for us. (We plan on doing Channel Islands in April.) We stayed at Joshua Tree Lake RV in site 301. It was a fine campground but site 301 was a bit annoying because it’s so big people think they can walk through it and it’s right next to the port-o-potties for the tent campers.
Joshua Tree was really fun! We were advised to go in the north entrance because the west entrance always has a long line and that was true because we saw it leaving. We bought postcards to send to the Stevenson girls and our NP sticker at the visitor center before we entered the park.
We first went to the Cholla cactus garden and did the 1/4 mile walk through all the cacti. That was very interesting because some anima bores holes in them and uses them as a home.
We then went on to White tank campground and let the boys climb on the rocks for a bit. Then next we went to skull rock and climbed some more. Then we ate a picnic lunch and then went to Keys view point where you could see all the way to Mexico on a clear day!
We stopped at Hidden Valley because the boys were begging to climb again and boy did they climb! They went way higher than we expected and Kyle had to climb up there to help them down. Watching them come down was scary and yet funny at the same time.
We went into the town of Joshua Tree and visited 2 thrift stores and then ate at a Mexican restaurant. We went back to the motorhome and watched Star Wars on the outside tv with a fire going. That was super fun!!! People even commented how awesome our set up was! We’re headed home today and looking forward to camping at the beach next month!
